In this 18 days program, you will experience the best of Borneo’s in terms of nature, culture and adventure. This adventurous programme will take you to remote and untouched areas that offer the very best of sights and contacts with the natural environment. You may have to compromise a bit of comfort, but you will be rewarded with the experience of travelling to parts of Borneo that few get to see. During your trip, you will be actively involved with activities as biking, kayaking, walking and hiking through the jungle, national parks, along rivers and in the highlands of Borneo. Along the way during this adventurous journey, you will encounter both the richness of wildlife and the warmth and hospitality of the native people of Borneo. Spend a few days in Brunei and enjoy some free time, with a half-day tour visit to Royal Palace, Istana Nurul Iman, Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, boat ride to water village, explore the Malay Technology Museum and Royal Regalia Museum. Accommodation is generally of a good standard but there are several nights in basic jungle lodges, some without air-con. The program is compact but well-paced. Average fitness is required.

DAY 1

On arrival, meet your Tour Executive who will assist and transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is for your to explore the old colonial city centre of Kuching or just be at your leisure. Stay four nights in Kuching.

DAY 2

Make your way to the nearby bike shop at 0800 hours and after a short safety briefing, starts the Kuching bike tour combining Heritage and Kampong. This unique bike tour covers the great majority of Kuching’s sights and indulges in a wide variety of popular authentic Sarawak local street foods, drinks and desserts. The mid-afternoon is free at leisure.

Depart at 1730 hours to board the MV Equatorial for a 1½ hours Sunset River cruise on the Sarawak River.

DAY 3

After an early breakfast, enjoy a short drive to Bako village and proceed by boat to the park headquarters and explore wildlife around the area. Enjoy lunch at the canteen and then continue to National Park. This Park is one of the best places in Sarawak to see wildlife in a natural setting and home of Borneo endemic probosci's monkeys, silvered langurs, long-tailed macaques, wild boar, monitor lizards and numerous species of birds. The Park also has an impressive range of mangrove to kerangas (heath forest), tropical swamp vegetation, cliff vegetation and beach vegetation.

DAY 4

After an early breakfast, proceed to Bengoh, the starting point of your kayak adventure. Float down a river that meanders through spectacular limestone hills clad with tropical rainforest and punctuated with Class 1 to Class 2 rapids providing a thrilling water ride. Visit a friendly Bidayuh Village, have a swim in the cool refreshing mountain water and enjoy a light picnic lunch on the sandy riverbank.

DAY 5

Today after an early breakfast, drive to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way stop for lunch and stroll around the shops at Lachau Bazaar. Board a local longboat and travel upriver to the Iban village. Afternoon, free to explore and evening visit Nanga Sumpa longhouse. Relax on the ruai (common verandah) and spend time with the Iban people. Interact with the community, learn about their culture and enjoy some local rice wine. Stay two nights at Nanga Sumpa lodge.

DAY 6

Today after breakfast, hike the jungle trails along the river for about an hour to another longhouse, then Board a local longboat and travel upriver to the Enseluai waterfall. Relax, swim and enjoy the rainforest surroundings and a riverside BBQ lunch. After dinner, visit the Nanga Sumpa longhouse. Relax on the ruai (common verandah), spend time with the Iban people and enjoy some local rice wine.

DAY 7

After breakfast, travel downriver by boat to the Batang Ai Lake jetty followed by overland transfer to Kuching. The afternoon is free to relax and stay overnight in Kuching. 

DAY 8

Transfer to Kuching airport to board a flight to Mulu National Park. On arrival, transfer to your accommodation. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic 3 km plank walk through the primary rainforest to the entrance of the famous Deer Cave. Later, visit the Lang’s Cave famous for the stalactites and stalagmites followed by Bat Observatory known for a spectacular exodus of about 2 million bats leaving the cave in search of food. Return to the park accommodation. and stay two nights in Mulu National Park.

DAY 9

Today, proceed by longboat upriver to Wind Cave famous for its impressive 'King's Chamber', stalactites and stalagmites. Then to Clearwater Cave, a habitat for unique species of plants. Enjoy a picnic lunch, swim or relax before returning. The rest of the afternoon is free for your leisure.

DAY 10

After breakfast, transfer to Mulu airport to board a flight to Sandakan. Upon arrival, transfer to your Hotel and stay two nights in Sandakan.

DAY 11

Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary where captive orangutans are reintroduced into the wild. Then to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see sun bears in and outdoor enclosures. Before noon, board and enjoy a one-hour boat ride up the Lower Kinabatangan River, passing pristine mangrove forests and searching for wildlife. After Lunch at Abai Jungle Lodge, you are free to relax or explore the surrounding area on the nature boardwalk. Late afternoon, go in search of probosci's monkeys, birds, reptiles and other wildlife. After dinner, go on a guided night walk around the Lodge’s nature boardwalk. Stay two nights at Abai Jungle Lodge (non-air conditioned).

DAY 12

Early morning, enjoy a boat trip for bird watching and wildlife viewing at the nearby Pitas Lake. After breakfast at the lodge, visit the nearby Abai village and participate in a tree-planting project. Enjoy a local-style lunch prepared and served by the villagers. Rest and relax before another cruise along the Kinabatangan River in search of wildlife.

DAY 13

After breakfast, enjoy a boat transfer to Sandakan and a flight to Kota Kinabalu. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to your Hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 14

After breakfast, enjoy an excursion to Kinabalu Park. Experience a guided nature walk with a park naturalist to see an impressive collection of mountain flora and fauna. After lunch, visit the National Park gallery providing more information on the park’s botanic diversity.

DAY 15

After breakfast, transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport to board a flight to Bandar Seri Begawan. Meet and greet on arrival and transfer to the Hotel. Remaining day is free to explore and stay three nights in Bandar Seri Begawan.

DAY 16

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day city tour and begin with what some consider the world's largest palace by room capacity, Istana Nurul Iman. Jame Asr' Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, Brunei Museum, Royal Regalia Museum and conclude the day with a boat cruise along the river, passing the oldest form of residence in Brunei - the Water village - fondly known as the "Venice of the East." Disembark at one of the jetties and enjoy tea served with traditional Brunei Cakes.

DAY 17

Enjoy your leisurely breakfast as the day is free to relax and enjoy the hospitality of the hotel or explore the city and go shopping.

DAY 18

After breakfast, the tour finishes with a direct transfer to the airport.
